Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (Иван Константинович Айвазовский July 29, 1817 - May 5, 1900) was a Russian painter of Armenian descent.

Natural in the town of Feodosiya, Crimea, Ukraine, he spent his childhood in poorness. His talent as an creative person earned him sponsorship & entry to the Simferopol gymnasium and later a St.Petersburg Academy of Arts.

Earning awards for his early landscapes & seascapes, he went in to paint the series of portraits of Crimean coastal towns prior to travelling throughout Europe. Inside afterwards life, his paintings of naval scenes earned him a longstanding commission from either the Russian Navy.

Using funds earned within the period of his successful career as an creative person he opened an art school & gallery in his residence town of Feodosiya. He left complete 6000 work on his dying around 1900. He as well painted numerous paintings for the Turkish Sultan which are currently within Turkish museums.
